The Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar Mr. Girish Dyalan on Monday inspected the Kurali Fire Cracker Godowns and directed the authorities to ensure strictly followed the norms regarding sale of firecrackers.Reviewing the overall preparedness to avert any Batala like incident, Mr. Dyalan also ordered constitution of three-member committee headed by the Tehsildaar to ensure all rules and regulations were being adhered to by Godown Owners. The other members of the Committee would be the Fire officer and concerned Station House Officer (SHO).The Deputy Commissioner also asked the SDM Kharar Mr. Vinod Bansal to ensure one fire tender at Kurali from Kharar till Kurali won't get its own alloted one. He also asked the SDM to depute required manpower at Kurali fire tending office in the meanwhile. All basic amenities should be ensured at Civil Hospital Kurali as a precautionary measure, He instructs.
Mr. Dayalan said that “we have instructed strictly banning the sale of crackers in residential areas, especially in the upper floors, sub-level or basement. There shall be no sale of crackers close to the premises used for storage or sale of flammable and hazardous materials,” he added.Referring to the amount of crackers the shops can store, He said that licensed shops can keep only stipulated quantity of firecrackers, which is mentioned in guidelines. “Unlicensed retailers will be taken to task and permission will not be accorded for sale of crackers in places of public gathering,”.Meanwhile, The Deputy Commissioner also instruct that gap of 15 metres must be maintained between two stalls and partition walls be erected. The shops should have sand buckets, sufficient of water and fire extinguishers.On this occasion ADC (G) Ms. Sakshi Sawhney, SHO Kurali Kulwant Singh, District Fire Officer Krishan Lal Kakkar and EO Kurali V.K. Jain were present.
