Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah today convened a meeting to review modalities for implementation of Market Intervention Scheme (MIS) through National Agriculture Produce Marketing Federation (NAFED) to facilitate the fruit growers in the district to sell their produce.The meeting decided that all concerned Departments including Horticulture, Horticulture Planning & Marketing ,Agriculture and Revenue Department will be mobilized for ensuring implementation of the scheme in letter and spirit .The DC impressed upon PDD, R&B, PHE and Municipal Committee Pulwama authorities to provide all logistic support to Horticulture Department for provision of various facilities for fruit growers and NAFED in the Mandis for hassle free procurement process.The meeting was informed that the District recorded an apple production of 138467 metric tons in the year 2018-19 and is expecting a production of 144110 metric tons for the year 2019-20.Pertinently, Government decided to launch the Market Intervention Scheme to eliminate middleman ship and provide a hassle-free environment to the orchardists with remunerative prices for their Apple crop without Mandi fees.
