District Development Commissioner (DDC) Ganderbal, Hashmat Ali Khan today chaired a meeting of officers to discuss the formulation of Action Plan under Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) 2019-20 here.Chief Planning Officer, Anika Mushtaq, Chief Horticulture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, DY. Registrar Cooperative, Area Marketing Officer Horticulture (P&M), officials from agriculture and Animal Husbandry department were present in the meeting.The Chief Horticulture Officer briefed the DDC about the components of the scheme and presented the constituency wise proposed annual Action Plan under MIDH for the Year 2019-20.The components and activities under the action plan were discussed threadbare including Plantation Infrastructure and Development, High Density Plantation, rejuvenation and replacement of senile orchard plantation canopy management, creation of water sources, protected cultivation, post-harvest management, Horticulture Mechanization, training of farmers, exposure visit of farmers etc.Highlighting the role of Horticulture and Agriculture department as an important stakeholder to boost the economy of the district, the DDC urged the Chief Horticulture Officer and other concerned officers to play their role with utmost commitment for the implementation of the scheme at the ground level so that the benefit of the scheme procure to the deserving person after proper survey in a transparent manner.He also called upon the officers to ensure necessary steps are taken to increase awareness among the farmers regarding the scheme by way of holding awareness camps in potential areas, seminars, exposure visit of farmers, proper training of farmers and study tour to progressive sates and units.
