“There has been no untoward incident in the valley since the abrogation of article 370 last month. This is a proof that people have welcomed the decision” Union minister Parakash Javedakar said this while addressing the media persons during a public awareness and public connect campaign initiated by BJP Chandigarh. During the campaign, the minister met worl renowned athlete Milkha Singh, industrialist R. K. Sabu and former army Chief Gen. V. P. Malik and discussed the situation following the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. He was accompanied by BJP Chandigarh President Sanjay Tandon, Gen. Secy. Prem Kaushik and Chander Shekhar, Councillor Mahesh Inder Sidhu, BJP Media in charge Ravinder Pathania and MLA Gyan Chand Gupta.Addressing the journalists on the occasion, Parkash Javedakar said, the people of Jammu and Kashmir had been deprived of the development and progress that has been taking place in the rest of the country for over 70 years. Article 370 kept them away from taking advantage of the development schemes started by the union government. Abrogation of the article will help assimilate people of Jammu and Kashmir in mainstream and open paths for their development and progress. People has been deprived of schemes like protection of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, reservations for women etc. Now they will get all benefits at par with other citizens of the country.He said, people of Jammu and Kashmir will become direct beneficiaries of all development schemes of the government. People of Ladakh, who had been side lined for last 70 years will see speedy development under direct union administration. There has been no untoward incident in Jammu and Kashmir in last one month, since the abrogation of article 370. This clearly shows people want peace and development and have welcomed the decision.He informed that Modi government is organizing similar public awareness and public connect programs at over 400 places across the country. Senior ministers and leaders of the party will meet people and make them aware of the situation as well as ask for their suggestions moving forward.
