To eradicate Anemia and malnutrition by sensitizing the women, The Social Security, Development of Women & Children department organized health and nutrition camps in 11 blocks of the district under Poshan Abhiyan on Wednesday. District Program Officer Mr Amarjeet Singh Bhullar said that health and nutrition camps were held today in various places including Jamsher Khas, Sofi Pind, Mithapur, Garha, Kot Kalan, Jandu Singa, Mehatpur, Kala Bakra, Birka, Lohar Nangal and others of the district for creating the awareness about malnutrition and Anemia among the women.District Program Officer said that all pregnant women and lactating mothers were sensitized for the intake of nutritious diet daily and its benefits. He said at a time when the junk food and unbalanced diet have become a major health concern among the people, the pregnant women and lactating mothers must take nutritious food. Further, they were also asked to do morning and evening walks.
Further, an awareness rally was also carried out in these areas to apprise the women about the intake of a healthy diet.He told that Poshan Abhiyan is aimed at achieving improvement in the nutritional status of children from 0-6 years, adolescent girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers. DPO revealed the health officials gave detailed information to the pregnant women and lactating mothers over the importance of breastfeeding for the newborn. he doctors from the health department, ANMs, supervisors, Anganwari workers, pregnant women, lactating mothers and others took part in the events zealously.
