Housing, Urban Development and Water Resources Minister, Punjab Sukbinder Singh Sarkaria, on Friday, said that Punjab Government has been committed to uplift the standard of education and health facilities in the state. He was here at District Administrative Complex to preside over the meeting of district grievances redressal committee. The cabinet minister said that several major developments including Sarbat Seht Bima Yojana have been launched recently to provide affordable health facilities to people. He added that particularly for improvement in Barnala district, the report regarding the urgent requirements has also been sought from the local health department. He added that in education, smart schools are also being developed across the state to provide quality education in the government schools. Mr. Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria informed that to deal with the menace of stray animals, the district administrative authorities have been asked to identify the suitable places for the construction of new cattlesheds. He was addressing to an issue raised by a committee member and said that the capacity of all the existing cattle-ponds is full, the authorities have also been asked to keep regular vigil people who abandon the cows in the area.In the response of issue raised by a member about dilapidated roads, the cabinet minister directed the concerned officials to undertake the repair works of roads after the monsoon season. He also informed that Punjab government has also taken up the issue of necessity of tree guards in order to save planted saplings which would be addressed soon.On this occasion, DC Tej Partap Singh Phoolka, SSP Harjit Singh, ADC (D) Parveen Kumar, SDM Barnala Sandeep Kumar, SDM Tapa Karandeep Singh, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Karamjit Singh, MLA Bhadaur Pirmal Singh, MLA Mehal Kalan Kulwant Singh Pandori, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jugal Kishore, committee members and officials were present on the occasion.
