MLA, DC AND SSP Visits Shahkot To Oversee Arrangements For Tackling Flood Like Situation

People Residing In Low Lying Areas Urged To Shift To 31 Evacuation Centres In Nakodar, Phillaur And Shahkot

Alarmed by the sudden rise in water level due to release of excessive water from Ropar Headwork, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal, accompanied by MLA Mr. Hardev Singh Laddi, visited Shahkot Sub Division to oversee the arrangements made for tackling the flood like situation.The MLA, Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police visited the Baupur village near Shahkot and oversaw the arrangements made to tackle the flood like situation. They also said that the district administration was fully geared up to meet any sort of emergency situation. However, they appealed to the people residing in low lying/ flood prone areas that they should move to rescue centres set up by the district administration for their security.The MLA , Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police said that for villages falling in Phillaur Sub Division 18 evacuation centres have been set up Government Senior Secondary School Lassara, Dharamshala and Government Primary School Powari, Government Primary School Raipur Arayian, Government Primary School Kadhiana, Government Primary School and Janjghar Ashahoor, Government Primary School and Dharmshala Dera Baba Katpalo, Government Primary School Nagar, Government Senior Secondary School (Boys) Phillaur, Pathshala Mandir and Government Primary School near EOMC Phillaur, Government Primary School Ganna Pind, Government Senior Secondary School Phillaur, Mau Sahib, Government High School Mau Sahib, Government High School Talwan, Government Primary School Gagh Dhagara, Government Primary School Burj Kela, Government High School Powadra and Government Primary School Powadra. Likewise, they said that for villages falling in Nakodar Sub Division five Evacuation Centres have been set up Government Middle School Khaira Mushtarka, Government Senior Secondary School Sangowal, Government Girls Senior Secondary School Mehatpur, Grain Market Mehatpur and GGH Bet Khalsa School Mehatpur. They further said that for Shahkot Sub Division eight evacuation centres have been set up at Government Primary School Kang Khurd, Government Senior Secondary School Poonian, Government High School Nawan Pind Akaliyan, Government Senior Secondary School Bajwa Kalan, Government Midde School Bagga, Government Senior Secondary School Lohian, Government High School Nahal and Government Senior Secondary School Parjian Kalan.The MLA, Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police said that all arrangements for food, boarding and lodging, fodder for animals, vaccination for human being and cattle besides other necessary logistics have been made in these evacuation centres. They further said that all the officers have been directed to facilitate the people coming in these centres for help. They said that the officers/ officials have been passed necessary directions to ensure that people do not face any sort of inconvenience.
