The 73rd Independence Day was held across Ramban District with patriotic fervor and enthusiasm.The District Development Commissioner, Ramban, Nazim Zai Khan unfurled the National Flag at District Police Lines, Ramban, followed by the National Anthem.SSP, Ramban, Anita Sharma, SSP, Traffic, JS Johar, ADDC, Nawab Din, ADC, Dr. Basharat Hussain, CPO Kasturi Lal, senior officers of Armed Forces, PRIs, prominent citizens and District officers of various departments attended the function.After inspecting the 20 contingents including that of SSB, JKP, IRP, CRPF, JKHP, FPF, Army Band, NCC and the local school students, the DDC took the salute from their parading contingents.After greeting the well attended enthusiastic audience, the DDC, during his address, gave a brief account of the main developmental activities in the district during the previous year and which are to be completed in near future.The DDC appreciated the public of Ramban for maintaining peace, communal harmony and brotherhood in the district in every situation and assured their full cooperation for the same.He informed that Rs 121 crore has been earmarked for different developmental works in district Ramban under Capex Budget for 2019-20. He further informed that 73 languishing projects of different nature would be completed shortly.
The DDC added that providing of quality academic education to students is on priority of administration, in this regard many schools were upgraded upto Higher Secondary and High School level.The DDC congratulated the people for participating in Panchyat, Local bodies and Lok Sabha elections to strengthen grass root democracy. He appealed to the Panches, Sarpanches and members of local bodies to work in coordination with administration for ensuring development of every nook and corner of district.He said that various schemes have been launched in the district especially for overall development of youth, children, women and other weaker sections of society.The DDC further informed that National Highway four Laning, Railway projects, 101 roads of 806 KM length under PMGSY and PWD roads of 520 KM length are in progress.A colourful cultural programme based on the patriotic, national songs presented by the local students and artiest of Information departments enthralled the audience.The prizes were distributed among the performers of the cultural programme and parade by the Chief Guest. Some prominent citizens were also awarded for their contribution to maintain peace and brother hood in the district.Independence Day was also celebrated with patriotic fervor in Gool, Banihal and Ramsoo Sub divisions besides Tehsil headquarters of district.
