The Cooperation Minister, Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today met higher officials of various departments at Markfed Sector-35 to review the preparations with regard to the upcoming 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The minister after the meeting decided to summon a meeting of concerned officials on 9th August at Dera Baba Nanak for inspecting the work being executed at the site of function besides the work related to the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor.S. Randhawa elaborated that during the first fortnight of November, ‘Dera Baba Nanak Utsav’ would be held at Dera Baba Nanak. During the course of this ‘Utsav’, the fusion of Art and Literary forms, the masses would be made aware of the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The minister further said that the corridor is being opened for enabling the devotees to visit Gurudwara Sri Kartarpur Sahib on the pious occasion of the 550th Parkash Purb celebrations of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He also said that Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor is a big gift for the entire ‘Nanak Naam Leva Sangat’and the Punjab Government would not leave any stone unturned in making the celebrations memorial one.

The minister directed the officers of all the departments to strive for further improvement in the basic infrastructure of Dera Baba Nanak owing to the expected massive rush of devotees during the celebrations. He emphasized the strengthening of the road network, Absolute cleanliness and adequate parking spaces. He further added that it must be ensured that the devotees face no obstacle during the celebrations. Striving for speeding up the ongoing works, S. Randhawa said that he would personally inspect the works on 9th August in a meeting with the higher officials and the District Administration.Among others present at the meeting included the Additional Chief Secretray Housing and Urban Development Mrs. Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary Tourism and Cultural Affairs Mr. Vikas Pratap, Secretary PWD Mr. Hussan Lal, Registrar Cooperative Societies Mr. Vikas Garg, Director Information and Public Relations Department Mrs. Anindita Mitra, Director Industries and Commerce Mr. C. Sibin, Director General School Education Mr. Muhammad Tayyab, MD Milkfed Mr. Kamaldeep Singh Sangha, MD Punjab State Cooperative Agricultural Development Bank Mr. Charandev Singh Mann, Sikh Scholar Mr. Amarjit Singh Grewal, Dr. Manmohan, Dr. Sarbjinder Singh, Dr. Neelam Grewal and Dr. Swaranjit Savi.
