DC Jammu reviews progress of Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway, Ring Road, Extension of Airport projects

Directs concerned authorities to remove all bottlenecks pertaining to these projects

Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chauhan convened a meeting to review the work progress of Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway, Ring Road and Extension of Airport projects, here today.SDM Jammu North Satish Sharma, SDM Jammu South Shrikant Suse, SDM Marh Tarik Naik, SDM R.S Pura Jagdish Singh, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Chander Parkash, Representatives of, NHAI, NHIDCL and Airport Authority were present in the meeting. Briefing about the Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway, the Liaison Officer of NHIDCL informed that the project has two phases. In first phase, 5.2 km long Flyover project starting off from canal head to Muthi will be constructed at an estimated cost of 273 crore and will be completed till Feb 2021. Similarly, in second phase, a four-lane highway will be constructed from Muthi to Akhnoor at an estimated cost of 194 crore till July 2021.He apprised the DC about the progress of work being done by them so far and also discussed issues of pending structures, land possession issue and other related issues.In another meeting to review the progress of Ring Road Project, the executing agency informed that the 58.25 km long 4-lane Jammu Ring Road, being built at a cost of Rs 2023.87 crore, will link Jagati (western Jammu) to Raya Morh. There will be 8 large bridges, 6 flyovers, 2 tunnels and 4 via ducts on this route, the NHAI authorities informed the meeting. 

The Liaison officer informed the DC about the progress of work achieved so far and future plan.Similarly, in a meeting to review work progress of Extension of Airport, the concerned authorities apprised the DC about the problems and issues being faced by them. SDMs also apprised the DC about the status of progress achieved, bottlenecks, demolishing of pending structures and compensation disbursement in their jurisdictions.Besides that threadbare discussions were held regarding land acquisition cases, pending structures, disbursement of compensation amount to the beneficiaries and other related issues.The DC asked the executing agencies to remove the bottlenecks and expedite the pace of work to meet the timelines. She directed them to complete the work well in time and make the road traffic worthy. She also asked the concerned officers to provide land devoid of trees and structures to Airport Authorities within two weeks so that they can execute their work in smooth and steady manner without any hindrances.Emphasizing on strict adherence to quality specification and timely completion of the projects, DC directed the concerned departments to work in synergy and ensure regular monitoring of the work. He also called for maintaining inter-department coordination which is vital for expediting the pace of development works.
