Meeting of the District Peace Committee was convened today wherein people from various walks of life vowed to maintain peace and harmony in the district. SSP Dr Narinder Bhargava was also present.Speaking at the meeting, DC Mrs Riyait appealed the representatives of political parties, religious bodies and other associations to maintain peace and harmony in wake of the recent development in Jammu and Kashmir. They were asked to refrain from making celebrations or holding protests in this context in larger interest of public.Deputy Commissioner stated that ensuring peace should be the biggest priority. She added that passengers coming back from Jammu and Kashmir should be given safe passage and if any Kashmiri student was studying in the district he or she should be given complete security.SSP Dr Narinder Bhargava said that the district administration and police were fully geared up to deal with any kind of exigency. Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has directed strictly to maintain law and order of the state and no one would be allowed to disturb communal harmony. He also called upon the members of Peace Committee to extend helping hand for maintain peace and law and order. He said that any kind of suspicious activity or object should immediately be reported to the police.SP H Major Singh, District Congress president Dr Manju Bala, Jaspal Singh Datewas from Aam Aadmi Party, Krishan Chauhan from Communist Party, Kuldeep Singh from DSP, secretary district bar association Gurdas Singh Mann, oresident arhtiya association Manish Babbe Danewalia, president karyana association Suresh Nandgarhia, president bar association Gurpreet Singh Sidhu, Ruldu Singh from Punjab Kisan Sabha, Hans Raj Mofaria from Muslim community, Monu Danewalia from Gaushala Mansa, Ramesh Kumar Maheshi, Ashok Lali, Arun Kumar Bhamme and others were present.
Beware of rumours
DC Mrs Apneet Riyait appealed people to beware of the rumours and not get carried away by them. She said that no one should post anything on social media that creates communal tension. If anyone does it, action will be taken against the errant by police.
