The Medical Education and Research Minister Punjab, Om Parkash Soni today said that the interests of Punjabi students will be protected during admissions in medical colleges for MBBS. He was chairing the meeting of the Medical Education and Research Department here today.Disclosing this in a press communiqué Mr. Soni said that the policy framed for the admissions in medical colleges must be implemented in its true sense. He said that he has issued instructions to all the medical colleges to strictly adhere to the policy and anyone found harassing the students in this regard would be taken to task.The Minister said that he has also instructed the Principals of the Hospitals comes under the ambit of Medical Education and Research Department to provide quality health care service to the patient in order to further strengthen the faith of the common man in the Government health care services. 

He said that it has been noticed that some of the prisoners faked themselves as patients to get admission in hospitals. He said that the Principals have been asked to check the admission of such prisoners who faked themselves as patient for ulterior motives.The Minister on being apprised that some of the institutes in Punjab are running fake paramedical courses, the Minister instructed the authorities to take punitive against such fraudulent institutes in ten days.Mr. Om Parkash Soni also instructed all the medical councils not to unnecessarily harass any of the person intend to register himself with the councils. He said that if anyone found bothering these persons without any just cause, disciplinary actions against these erring officers would be initiated.Prominent amongst who were present in the meeting included Mr. D K Tiwari, Principal Secretary Medical Education and Research Department, Dr. Raj Bahadur vice chancellor, Baba Farid Health Sciences University, Faridkot and Mr. Avinash Kumar Director Medical Education and Research Department and Chairman of all the medical councils.
