Housing, Urban Development and Water Resources Minister, Punjab Mr. Sukbinder Singh Sarkaria, on Monday, said that to quickly resolve the issues of the people, District Grievances Redressal Committee members should also support the administration. He was here at District Administrative Complex to preside over the first meeting of district grievances redressal committee. He said that the committee members have suggested that the flow of canal water should be ensured and repair of canals and minors should be ensured to save underground water. He added that the Punjab government is working with utmost seriousness to save the underground water and taking serious note of the issue, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has also decided to call all-party meeting to initiate concrete steps to save ground water.On this occasion, the Cabinet Minister has also resolved some issues on the spot. He directed the administrative officials to consider the issues, raised by the committee members, seriously so that each issue could be resolved properly before the next meeting. Speaking about the issue of traffic problem in Barnala city, the Cabinet Minister said that contribution of common people is must to maintain the situation of law and order and for the convenience and safety of the general public; all should have to follow traffic rules.
He said that besides this, efforts would also be made to bring out proper the solution of the problem of garbage and the city residents should also collect dry and wet waste separately, so that it could be disposed off properly.Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria said that some of the issues related to the condition of certain roads of the district have been brought to the notice by the committee members and in most of the cases officials have been instructed to complete the carpeting of roads before the monsoon season. He said that along with this, Civil Surgeon Barnala has also been asked to resolve the issues related to Civil Hospital Barnala. He said that till the next meeting, the civil surgeon would ensure that all the doctors in the hospital would not prescribe the names of the brands of medicines to the patients.Deputy Commissioner Mr. Tej Partap Singh Phoolka assured that the district administration will extend its full support for the disposal of all issues raised by the members of the committee. He added that he would personally monitor all the issues for a time-bound solution to the problem.On this occasion, SSP Harjit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner (G) Ruhee Dugg, ADC (D) Parveen Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Karamjit Singh, SDM Barnala Sandeep Kumar, SDM Tapa Karandeep Singh, MLA Barnala Gurmeet Singh Meet Hehar, MLA Mehal Kalan Kulwant Singh Pandori, Civil Surgeon Dr. Jugal Kishore, Makhan Sharma, Ujagar Singh Behla, other committee members and officials were present on the occasion.
