550 trees would be planted in each Government Polytechnic and Industrial training institutes to commemorate the 550th Parkashpurb of SriGuru Nanak Dev Ji, the students and staff of the Institute would personally take care of these plants. The Punjab Technical Education & Industrial Training Minister Charanjit Singh Channi disclosed this while chairing a meeting of the heads of the Government Technical & Industrial Training Institutes of the state. The Minister also gave directions regarding celebrating “Clean Environment Fortnight’ during the Month of August.Earlier the Minister had long discussions with the heads and senior faculty members of the Polytechnic and Technical Education & Industrial Training Institutes regarding upgradation and betterment of government technical and polytechnic Institutes to make them as per needs of the global Industry so that youth of the state could made more skilful and employable.The Minister announced during the meeting that four Government Polytechnic colleges would be developed as model Institutes which include Government Polytechnic College for Girls Patiala, Government Polytechnic College for Girls Jalandhar, Government Polytechnic Hoshiarpur and Government Polytechnic College Khooni Majra. 

These institutes would be equipped with all the latest training technological facilities for the students as per the needs of the global Industry.During the meeting the results and admission of each institute was also reviewed and all the heads were directed to achieve 100 results.The Minister said that some major decisions regarding filling of vacant posts, improving the infrastructure and delegating financial powers to the head of the Institutes were also taken. He also assured the entire faculty and other employees of the department that total transparency would be maintained in the general transfers and would try to accommodate maximum employees keeping in mind their demands.Other prominent present in the meeting included Mr. DK Tewari Principle Secretary Technical Education & Industrial Training, Mr. Parveen Thind Director, Mr Gurmeet Singh Multani Secretary Technical Education Board, Joint Director and Deputy Directors of the Department.
