The Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Mr. Charanjit Singh Channi today enquired after the health of the victim of Sri Muktsar Sahib incident Meena Rani at Sri Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot. It is worth mentioning that a few days ago, a councillor and his supporters had brutally beaten up Meena Rani who is now undergoing treatment at Faridkot. The Cabinet Minister Mr. Channi announced that the entire cost of the treatment of Meena Rani would be borne by the Punjab Government. The minister further assured the victim that the Punjab Government stands by her and the culprits would not be spared. The minister further added that the victim need not fear anything and the police would proceed as per law to ensure severe action against those responsible. The minister also said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has taken strong and prompt action with regard to this dastardly act and arrested 7 accused till date. The accused would be proceeded against severely. Mr. Channi refuted the reports appearing in a section of the media that the accused councillor belongs to the Congress party. He made it clear that the councillor had won his seat as an independent. Mr. Channi reiterated that the Punjab Government is duty bound to provide free, transparent and without fear environment to every section of the society and there would be no injustice against anyone.
