In order to commemorate the 550th parkash purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Education department today organized a shabad reciting competition in which students from government schools across the district participated. The District Education Officer (Secondary) Mr. Harinder Pal Singh was the chief guest during the competition held at the local Government Senior Secondary School for girls Adarsh Nagar. He said that the main aim behind organizing these competitions was to perpetuate the life and philosophy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji amongst our future generations. Mr. Harinder Pal Singh said that the department was laying major thrust on making the students an integral part of the mega celebrations to celebrate 550th parkash purab of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. The District Education Officer said that during the competition, the students were exhorted to follow Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji's teachings in their lives. He further said that the department would organize more competitions like painting, declamation and others in coming days to make the students abreast of the teachings and life of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji.During the competition the students recited the shabads to showcase the life and philosophy of the first Sikh Guru. The Government Senior Secondary School for Girls Nakodar bagged the first position in the competition whereas Government Model Senior Secondary School Ladowali Road got the second and Government Girls Senior Secondary School Adarsh Nagar bagged the third prize. Music teachers Ms. Vandana, Mrs. Baljeet Kaur and Ms. Sunita acted as judges for the competition.On the occasion Deputy District Education Officer Mr. Anil Awasthi, Principal of School Mrs. Khushdeep Kaur and others were also present.
