Post the Lok Sabha polls, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a high-powered meeting here on Monday to review the outcome of the election results and the party’s performance in the state. Other public-centric issues that figured in the meeting included the unprecedented hike in electricity tariff, poor health services and the sorry state of education, et al. An outline of the action plan to launch the proposed statewide ‘Bijli Andolan’ in protect against the electricity hike was also discussed threadbare at the meeting. The meeting which lasted hours was held under the chairmanship of Punjab unit’s Core committee chairman and MLA Principal Budhram and Leader of Opposition, Harpal Singh Cheema in which other members of the committee took part. A meeting with party nominees who contested from various Parliamentary segments to discuss the reasons for party’s dismal performance in the elections inviting suggestions to strengthen the party.Taking to media after a long meeting lasting for hours, the AAP leaders discussed the party’s performance in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. The meeting also expressed its shock and dismay over the recurring hike in the power tariff and drew outline to launch the ‘Bijli andolan’ to force the state government to mull immediate roll back. 

In reply to question from the Media, Cheema said the newly appointed power minister Navjot Singh Sidhu should do his bit 0to redeem the government’s pledge to provide cheaper electricity to the people, a promise that the Captain Amarinder Singh Government had made to the people of the state, stating that he should immediately scrap the all the agreements signed between the erstwhile BJP-Akali government and the private power players simply to usurp worth crore.On this occasion, Harpal Singh Cheema and Principal Buddhram said that a detailed review report based on the core committee discussion and feedback of the party candidates would prepared and handed over to National Convener and Delhi CM by party President Bhagwant Mann. He said that the party would take steps to strengthen the party base at the booth level and state level with a renewed vigour and zeal, saying that the structure of the party would not be dissolved, rather more office bearers would be inducted to broad base the structure.On the occasion, core committee members, including Prof. Sadhu Singh, Meet Hayer, Manjit Singh Bilaspur, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Jai Kishan Singh Rori (all MLAs), Gurdit Singh Sekhon, Kuldeep Singh Chaunda, Garry Barring, Dalbir Singh Dhillon, state media chief Manjit Singh Sidhu, Chairman of Political Review Committee Harchand Singh Bursat, Party Candidates, including Narinder Singh Shergill, and Justice Jora Singh, and Kaka Saran, Bandeep Singh Bani Dullon, Dr. Tejpal Singh and other leaders were present.
