Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia today said that the situations like civil war as well as revolt have plagued the congress party in the face of imminent defeat in the parliamentary polls even as Chief Minister Captain Amrinder Singh has realized that the Congress days are numbered in Punjab and  it will fall with its own weight post the election results.S. Majithia came to cast his vote at booth number 36 in Majitha. On this occasion while speaking to newsmen, SAD leader said that the people of Amritsar parliamentary constituency would avail this opportunity to putting the Amritsar on the path of development and prosperity by supporting the SAD-BJP candidate S. Hardeep Singh Puri “The people’s verdict will be in favour of S. Puri ” he added.Lashing out at the Congress government for stopping all development projects as well as social welfare schemes started by the previous SAD-BJP government under the leadership of S. Parkash Singh Badal, S. Majithia said that the captain Amrinder had gone back from all promises he made to the people of Punjab in the run up to assembly polls of 2017. “He has broken the sacred oath of Shri Guru Gobind Singh ji by not fulfilling his poll promises including complete farm loan waiver, job to every household, unemployment allowance for youth and many other” he said adding that pensions, Shagun, Atta-Dal, scholarships for Dalit students, free power upto 200 units for SCs and many other social welfare have been stopped by the current government.

Condemning the misuse of official machinery and other unlawful attempts of the Congress party aimed at furthering the electoral prospects of its candidates, S. Majithia said that the SAD would not let the Congress to murder democracy. He said that he was ready to take first shot in his chest to protect the democracy from the Congress goons.Taking the notice of brow beating of the members of SC community by the brother of Congress candidate from Khadoor Sahib, Jasbir Singh Dimpa, SAD leader said that the Congress leaders were in panic in the face of impending defeat and resorting to unlawful means to prevent their defeat by issuing threats to SAD supporters and other people for not casting their votes in the favour of Congress party.Stating that the nation needs a strong and honest PM, not a Pappu PM, S. Majithia said our country kept reeling under the evils of corruption, unemployment, illiteracy, poverty and communal violence during the long 60 years of Congress rule under the leadership of the Gandhi family. “Nobody can expect a clean government and agenda based politics from the scions of the Gandhi family” he added.Others prominent included Major Shivi, Advocate Rakesh Prasher, Prof. Sarchand Singh Media Advisior and other personalities of the area
