Senior Congress leader and party candidate from Shri Anandpur Sahib, Manish Tewari today promised to ensure regular supply of drinking water in all the villages falling in all the assembly segments in kandi areas, in a time bound manner.Addressing various campaign meetings here today, Tewari said, he was appalled to learn that even after 70 years of independence, several villages were still not getting proper drinking water in most of the assembly segments like Balachaur, Garhshankar, Anandpur Sahib, Ropar and Kharar. “It is my duty and responsibility to manage the funds whether from the World Bank or the Reserve Bank of India and it is a promise to all of you that you will be getting clean drinking water very soon”, he said.Responding to other main problem in the area, that of the wild animals damaging the crops, the Congress leader said, the Punjab government had already enacted a law in this regard and he will facilitate the wiring of the area.
“I on my part will ensure that right from Naya Gaon up to the last village, which may not necessarily fall within this parliamentary constituency, I will ensure electrified wiring of the area so that the wild animals do not damage the crops in the villages”, he said, while responding to the demand of the people that they wanted wild animals menace to be tackled on top priority.In continuation to his commitment of bringing in investment worth Rs 50,000 crores in next five years, he promised to get an agro-forestry based industrial park set up in the area so that people do not need to go to far off places to sell their wood. He said, people in the Kandi areas grow trees but they do not find many buyers since there are no processing units here.
