The rural police on Monday have arrested two persons including a Nigerian and seized one-kg heroin and one-kg opium from their possession in separate incidents.The accused have been identified as Jude Austin (33), Ayangburen Road, Nepa Office Ikorodu Lagos State in Nigeria, presently as New Delhi and Jolludin of village Dandiya, Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh.Addressing a press conference, Senior Superintendent Of Police (SSP Jalandhar rural) Mr Navjot Singh Mahal told that Station House Officer (SHO) Goraya Police Station Inspector Lakhvir Singh was heading a police Naka on Dallewal bridge, GT Road Goraya. He said that during the checking, a bus from Ludhiana side stopped and a foreigner boarded off from the bus and started walking back with a carry bag in his right hand.Mr Mahal told on suspicion, police party stopped him for the checking and seized one-kg heroin from the carry bag. The accused was taken in the custody immediately and a case under section 21 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him in Goraya Police Station.In a separate case, SSP said that a team led by Sub-Inspector Nirmal Singh was conducting the checking in Bhogpur-Adampur road. He said that when the team reached Lahdara village, a passer-by who was carrying a kitbag left it and started urinating.Mr Mahal said on suspicion, the cops apprehended him and checked his bag. On checking, the cops seized one-kg opium from the bag. A case under section 18 of the NDPS Act has been registered against him in Bhogpur police station.
