490 Nirankari Devotees including 78 Women Donated Blood

Today a blood donation camp was organized here at Sant Nirankari Satsang Bhawan, Sector 30-A, in which 490 Nirankari devotees including 78 women donated the blood units.  This Camp was inaugurated by Zonal Incharge, Dr. B.S.Cheema, who said that under the auspices of the Sant Nirankari Charitable Foundation, 69 blood donation camps have been organized across the country today.  Every year, the day of 24th April is observed as Manav Ekta Diwas (Human Unity Day) to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of its former Spiritual Head, Baba Gurbachan Singh Ji and to remember hundreds of devotees who laid down their lives for the noble cause of truth, love, peace and unity. 

Dr. Cheema also told that till today 6,39,785 units blood have been donated by the Nirankari devotees in 3,627 Blood Donation Camps organized from time to time in India.  Today, the Nirankari Mission is one of the leading blood donating voluntary organizations in the country.Dr. Cheema further told that during the current year 18 Camps would be organized in the Chandigarh Zone, out of which this is the first one and the next Camp will be organized at Pinjore on 4th May, 2014.Sh. Mohinder Singh, Sanyojak, Chandigarh Branch thanked all the donators and said that a drop of blood can give new life so we must donate the blood.  On this occasion Sh. Naranjan Singh, IAS (Retd.), Smt. Joginder Kaur Jogi, Member Incharge, Parcharak Training Vibhag, were also present.A Team of more than 20 doctors and other staff led by Dr. Suchet Sachdev and Dr. Rekha, Asstt. Professor, Blood Transfusion, PGI Chandigarh conducted the 7-hour blood collection operations.  He said, “the enthusiastic response of donors was a unique factor in the Nirankari Blood Donation Camps.”
