Former Union Minister, Congress Stalwart and a candidate from Anandpur Sahib Parliamentary Constituency, Manish Tiwari today started his campaign formally from Mohali, considered to be a "goldmine" in terms of votes keeping in view of the overall developmental works initiated by present and previous Congress Governments here.Addressing the massive rally here, which had been organised under the leadership of Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu, Mr. Tewari said that the Congress was slated to register a landslide victory in the elections and form government in the Centre. He said that this General Election was a referendum on the non-performance of the Modi government at the centre as also that of the local MP who had simply vanished for last five years. He said that the last five years of the NDA rule presided over by Narendra Modi had not only seen the erosion of the democratic institutions, but widespread unemployment and decline in the economy. Appealing people to vote with caution, he said that this election was also the most important one as it concerned the future of India."You are going to choose and elect a government that will decide and determine the future of the country and you have seen for yourself what happened during the last five years." he told the workers while seeking vote for the party.Former I&B Minister said that Congress is the only party that takes along everyone and does not discriminate against anyone irrespective of caste, creed or colour.

Referring to the sitting MP and Akali candidate Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra's remarks carrying the tags of outsider on him, Mr. Tewari said that he is a not from Pakistan. He had served the nation and state for years. The fight should be on the issues and our fight is against false promises made by Prime Minister Narindera Modi and his Government that only played divisive politics by promoting communal disharmony."I am born and bough up in Chandigarh. My father sacrificed his life for sake of Punjab. In small state like Punjab, to create differences over outsider and insider is an injustice to the state. I don't want to indulge in this politics but someone should ask the same question to Mr. Chandumajra as he also hails from Patiala. Mr. Tewari added. Congress Candidate further said that this election is a referendum over the working of BJP led NDA Government, in which SAD is also the participant. On this Occasion Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu said that the BJP and SAD was resorting to abusive language as they had "no poll issue" and a track record of non-performance. People of India are angry over the broken promises of the past five years and they will teach a lesson to Narendra Modi government in these elections. On the issue of developments projects on Mohali, he said that International Airport, Medical College, Project of PGI and other infastructural projects being initiated or completed by Congress Governments. He said that the promise made during elections to provide employment to every household in the state is being fulfilled word by word.Prominents who were present on this occasion are Mr. Pawan Kumar Bansal, Ex Union Minister, Sh. Lal Singh Chairman Punjab Mandi Board, Sh. Gurpreet Singh GP MLA Bassi Pathana, Senior Deputy Mayor Sh. Risav Jain, Sh.
