CP And DC Calls Upon Youth To Strengthen The Ethos Of Democracy As A Real Tribute To Dr. Ambedkar

Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today exhorted the youngsters to strengthen the ethos of democracy in the country as a real tribute to Bharat Ratna Dr. BR Ambedkar.Addressing the gathering during a district level function to mark the birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar here at the DAVIET, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that the chief architect of the Indian Constitution  had ensured the right to franchise for everybody so that they could participate in the democratic system with full zeal. They said that this move aimed at ensuring social and political equality amongst the people thereby enabling them to be an active partner in socio-economic growth of the country. However, they said that the aspirations of Dr. Ambedkar could only become a reality if all of us use our voting right judiciously and participate in the democratic process enthusiastically. The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that Dr. Ambedkar was one of the most towering personalities in the entire world adding that the students should follow his footsteps for carving out an egalitarian and harmonious society. They said that this great messiah of weaker sections was one of the most learned personalities in the world and had around 50,000 books in his personal library. Both the officers said that though Dr. Ambedkar hailed from a humble family but his outstanding contribution has brought him in the league of global leaders.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police further said that Indian Constitution was the result Dr. Ambedkar’s hard work, dedication and far sightedness.
They said that besides framing the constitution, Dr Ambedkar also laid the foundation of Reserve Bank of India. Both the officers called upon the students to make dedicated efforts for carving out an egalitarian society for securing justice and equality for all the sections of society rising above the petty considerations of caste, colour and creed.In his address, former head of the Political Science Department of the DAV College Prof. GC Kaul said that the life and philosophy this great national hero would ever inspire the people to render selfless service to the nation and its people. He said that Dr. Ambedkar was not a leader of any particular sect or strata of the society rather he belonged to the entire humanity.Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh also recalled the remarkable contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in framing the constitution of free India. He said that Baba Saheb was a farsighted leader who worked tirelessly for well being of the weaker sections of society adding that above all he was a true votary of empowerment of women.The students of HMV College and Government Senior Secondary School Gakhal presented cultural items to pay tribute to Dr. Ambedkar. The Deputy Commissioner, Commissioner of Police and other dignitaries also distributed books to the students in the function.On the occasion, Assistant Director Youth Services Mr. Himanshu Jain, District Mandi Officer Mr. Varinder Khera, District Guidance Counselor Mr. Surjit Lal, Director RUDSET Mr. Jagdish Kumar, Assistant Director Youth Services (Retd.)
