Sukhpal Singh Khaira MLA and President of Punjab Ekta Party(PEP) today demanded immediate resignation of SGPC president Gobind Singh Longowal and an apology by SAD President Sukhbir Badal, holding them morally responsible for the demolition of Darshani Deori (main entrance ) of Darbar Sahib Tarantaran on Saturday night.
While speaking to mediapersons at the precincts of Darbar Sahib Tarantaran during his spot visit to assess damage today, Khaira lashed out at the SGPC President Gobind Singh Longowal for being a tool in the hands of the Badal family who are hell bent to completely destroy the ideology, principles and the historical importance of Sikh ethos. He alleged that Longowal was handpicked by Badals to implement the secret agenda of BJP and RSS to demolish Sikh institutions. He said that demolition of historical Deori at Tarn Taran was a deep rooted conspiracy in which SAD and SGPC are equal partners.Khaira said that if a non-deserving person like Longowal would be appointed to head the highest Sikh body, such foolish acts can always be expected. He said that Longowal had no guts to stand against dictates of Badals who are playing in the hands of RSS and BJP. He said that earlier pardon granted to Dera Sacha Sauda head Gurmit Ram Rahim was also part of similar conspiracy to discredit the highest temporal seat of Akal Takhat Sahib.
He said that Parkash Singh Badal had conspired with former Union Minister Buta Singh to reconstruct Akal Takhat Sahib through Kar Sewa after it was demolished by army during Operation Blue Star. He said that on the directions of Badal family, the SGPC had earlier allowed to disfigure historical 'Bungas' inside the Golden Temple complex. The Bungas were plastered in the name of Kar Sewa and their original structure was destroyed. He also blamed Badals for not preserving scars of gunshots on Golden Temple walls and surrounding buildings.Khaira said he was amused why the SGPC which has a annual budget of Rs. 1200 crore hands over Kar Sewa to different saints? He said it is common knowledge that the saints who undertake Kar Sewa pay hefty sums running into crores to SGPC President and the SAD President, as Kar Sewa is a licence to mop up funds from Sikhs worldwide in the name of religion.Khaira said that demolition of Darshani Deori Tarn Taran Sahib Gurdwara had deeply hurt the Sikh sentiments and Badal were solely responsible for it. He demanded public apology by Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Singh Badal and Gobind Singh Longowal. He said that Longowal must resign from his post. He said that inquiry ordered by SGPC president into demolition of deori by Baba Jagtar Singh is merely an eyewash. It was not possible Kar Sewa people could take such a drastic step without the consent of SAD and SGPC leadership. He said that Kar Sewa of Tarn Taran Gurdwara was officially handed over by SGPC to Baba Jagtar Singh and a resolution passed to demolish the said Darshani Deodi at Tarantaran. Therefore, Sikh sanhat hold the troika of Parkash Singh Badal, Sukhbir Badal and Gobind Singh Longowal responsible for this blasphemous act.
