Sea of humanity today converged as more than three thousand volunteers gathered at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Stadium to join the deputy commissioner Mr. Chander Gaind for the marathon to disseminate the message of no voter to be left behind and exhorting the people to participate in election process and to express solidarity against drug menace. The deputy commissioner flagged off the marathon at 6 am which passed from railway bridge, ML Bhaskar Chowk, Mall Road, Golf Course and stadium.Leading the event from the front, the deputy commissioner himself participated in the marathon and run up to ML Bhaskar Chowk i.e. five kilometers, along with Divisional Commissioner Mr. Sumer Singh Gurjar, IG Mr. M.S. Cheena, SDM Mr. Amit Gupta, Assistant Commissioner Mr. Ranjit singh and CEO of DCM group of schools Mr. Anirudh Gupta. During the marathon, participants were found to be enthusiastic for having pictures with deputy commissioner Mr. Gaind, who is known as public DC and Mr. Gaind happily reciprocated to the same. A large number of participants took selfies with deputy commissioner en route to stadium.Addressing the gathering the deputy commissioner said that the main thrust of this mass movement was to solicit the support of people in this general elections so that previous records of voting percentage can be surpassed and new milestone can be achieved by ensuring highest percentage ever in Ferozepur. 

He further added that there was another motive of this mega event, which was to sensitize people against drug menace. Mr. Gaind along with others took pledge for further wiping out the curse of drugs from the district.Mr Gaind said that every one of us especially the youth must come forward and take part actively in the marathon and also encourage others to vote must in these elections.He stated that the hard earned right of vote must not be wasted and youngsters must exercise it judiciously to strengthen democracy at the grass root level adding that the district administration has taken this initiative to spread maximum awareness amongst the youth.The Deputy Commissioner said that as India was a youthful nation with a sizeable chunk of its population above the age of 18 years it was need of the hour to ensure that every youth registers himself as voter and cast it sincerely, so that a new and progressive India could be carved out. He said that those youngsters who were eligible but have not enrolled them as voters could apply for the vote till April 19thbefore the polls. The Deputy Commissioner said that to facilitate the youth the Election Commission of India has launched National Voter Services Portal (NVSP) and Voter Helpline App).At the end, the deputy commissioner handed over cash prizes to the winners and certificates to them. He also appreciated the efforts of the organizing committee for Successful completion of the marathon. Taking a special note of the efforts made by DCM group of schools, Mr. Gaind said that the event would not have been successful without the help of the group. He honored the CEO of the DCM group Mr. Anirudh Gupta along with others NGOs for their efforts towards this mega event. The traffic police have made elaborate arrangements for smooth flow of the traffic during the marathon.
