The Chief Electoral Officer today hold meeting with political parties and apprised the representatives of the political parties about the procedure for getting permits for vehicles to be used for electioneering and for star campaigner during Lok Sabha polls.The Additional CEO Kavita Singh informed them about various permissions regarding Vehicles which would be used by star campaigner, recognized political party, and its office bearers during code of conduct. She mentioned that the Election Commission has also stipulated norms for using vehicles to distribute election material related to election campaign and the office of CEO would issue a permit for the use of one vehicle to be plied in 25 assembly constituencies for this purpose. She said permission was necessary for every vehicle which will be used for election purpose by political Parties. She apprised that the office of CEO would provide the permission of 5 vehicles for the office bearers of registered political parties besides granting permits for video vans to be used during polls by political parties.
She said that before issuing permit to these video vans, it would also be ensured that such use of vehicles should be in accordance with the state transport rules and Motor Vehicle Act. She said that requisite permission was also compulsory for use of more than 10 two wheelers.Giving details about the election expenditure and separate bank accounts, the Additional CEO C. Sibin urged the political parties to give prior information to their candidates regarding opening of separate bank accounts as it was necessary day before filing nomination papers and information in this regard should be provided to the concerned Returning Officer.Reiterating firm resolve of Commission, the CEO Dr S. Karuna Raju said that the commission was making all out efforts to ensure the participation of voters of different categories. He said that special arrangements were bring made for Persons with Disabilities and elderly people. He said that 30 chairs and tent facility will also be provided at polling booths besides having arrangements of potable water and fans. The meeting was attended by the representatives of Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal, Bhartiya Janta Party, Aam Aadmi Party, Communist Party of India etc
