The Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma on
Thursday launched free meal service for the poor and underprivileged people in
Phillaur Civil Hospital in district.Addressing the gathering, Mr Sharma that
NGO Dhan Guru Ramdass Langar Sewa Society would render this service free of
cost during which three meals a day would be provided free to the people. He
said that this service would begin at 7am in the morning and people would be
served tea/ biscuits/ rusks/ buns or porridge.Likewise, the deputy commissioner
informed that rice or chapatti along with vegetable-pulses would be served to
people in the afternoon and in the evening chappati or rice would be served
with vegetables. He said that the
service would be available free of cost to the people during entire week.Mr
Sharma added that not only the patients, but anyone could eat the meal at free
of cost. He lauded the efforts of Mr Satnam Singh for this cause who was
rendering the same service in Jalandhar, Hoshiarpur, Mukerian and Dasuya civil
hospitals.The Deputy Commissioner said that this move would help the people in
getting nutritious food free of cost.The Deputy Commissioner assured fulsome
support and cooperation to the Dhan Guru Ramdass Langar Sewa Society in this
noble cause. He said that administration would leave no stone unturned to help
this NGO in its endeavour to help the needy section of society.On the occasion,
Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr Rajesh Sharma, Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Kumar
Bagga, SMO Dr Jatinder Singh and others were present.
