DCP Reiterates Commitment Of Punjab Police To Wipe Out Drug Menace From Jalandhar

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jalandhar Mr. PBS Parmar today reiterated the firm commitment of the Punjab Police to wipe out the menace of drugs from the state in general and Jalandhar in particular.Addressing the gathering before flagging off a motorcycle rally ‘Inqalaab against Drugs’ from the local BMC Chowk here today, the Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the Punjab Police was taking the challenge of wiping out the drugs head on and no stone was being left unturned to ensure that Jalandhar was totally free from this curse. He said that the Punjab Police has already broken the backbone of drug peddlers to check supply of drugs. Mr. Parmar said that due to strenuous efforts of Punjab Police the supply line of drugs has been snapped and drug peddlers have been put behind the bars.The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that perhaps for the first time across the globe a serious effort was being made to check the demand of drugs by motivating the people to be partners in this cause. 

Lauding the NGO Thumpers café for organizing this event with the support of Special Task Force (STF) against drugs, he said that this would help in making the people especially the youth aware of drug menace. Exhorting the people to be a part of the campaign against drugs, Mr. Parmar said that it needs to be further transformed into a mass movement for safeguarding the future of the state and the coming generations.The Deputy Commissioner of Police said that the Punjab Police has a glorious tradition of serving the county with integrity and now also it has been already making strenuous efforts for eliminating drug menace from the state. However, he said that such efforts could not be fruitful without the active support and cooperation of the general public. Mr. Parmar said that the time has come when every section of society must contribute towards this noble cause and make war against drug a huge success.On the occasion Superintendent of Police STF Mr. Harvinder Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police STF Mr. Surjeet Singh and other officers were also present.
