First Level Checking (FLC) of VVPATs has organised today at Government Polytechnic College, Khooni Majra near Kharar under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer Mrs. Gurpreet Kaur Sapra.On this occasion she inquired about the functioniong of VVPATs and EVMs. She explained about the commencement of usage of EVMs and VVPATs in Indian electoral process including details about its design, methodology, security, transportation and storage of machines also about the process of feeding the names of candidates and the counting of the votes polled.Mrs. Sapra said that during this process the old data on the machines will be deleted and the machines will be prepared for the parliamentary elections. She asked the representatives of all the political parties to nominate their office bearers to attend FLCs. She further said that the representatives of political parties must ensure their presence during the First Level checking. First Level checking will infuse confidence among all stake holders about the functions of EVMs and VVPATs. It also helps in understanding the preparation and security measures which have been taken by the District Election Office under Election Commission of India guidelines.District Election Officer further said that this process could build confidence in the election process and it is a very transparent process. During the First Level checking, if any machine found not up to the mark will be immediately separated and will be sent to the manufacturing public sector undertaking for further investigations.On this occasion Principal of Government Polytechnic College Mr. Darshan Singh Sandhu, District Welfare Officer Mr. Sukhsagar Singh and Election Tehsildar Mr. Sanjay were also present.
