If you’re thinking about getting yourself a new scooter - easily one of the best, most affordable, and most convenient ways to get around, with the brands and models aside, there’s one key decision you need to make.

Will you get a gas or electric scooter?

While the main difference between the two is obvious in terms of fuel, this does lead to many other differences you’ll need to know. With the right information in hand, you’ll be able to make the choice that’s right for you. That’s why today we’re going to explore the five key differences between gas and electric scooters, ensuring you make the best purchasing decision when it comes to the transport you’re using.

#1 - Cost

Generally speaking, if you compare a gas scooter and an electric scooter of the same specifications, the gas scooter will tend to be less expensive. However, if you’re choosing bikes on rent   you might be able to find yourself a decent deal on either.

#2 - Noise (Volume)

Scooters can be relatively noisy, depending on which one you get, and if whether you’re looking for one that’s really loud or really quiet, whether it’s gas or electric will make a big difference. Typically, gas scooters will be much quieter due to the engine combustion, and electric ones will be much quieter.

#3 - Reliability

Of course, you’re going to want a scooter that’s able to stand up to whatever you plan on putting it through. With this in mind, gas scooters tend to be more durable due to the fact they’re built to sustain higher speeds and can even be taken off-road.However, if you’re only planning to go around your city or town on relatively flat surfaces and won’t be taking it off-road, you’ll be fine with an electric scooter because this is what they’re designed for. Furthermore, if you get yourself a scooty on rent, you may even have a servicing and repair plan included.

#4 - Safety

Safety is, of course, one of the main concerns you’ll want to think about, but generally speaking, there is no biased between a gas or electric scooter. However, gas scooters tend to be able to reach higher speeds than electric scooters, which of course puts you at a higher risk of injury in the event of a crash.

#5 - Environmental Impact

More and more people are concerned with the environmental impact their vehicles and modes of transportation have on them, and if you fit into this category, the fuel type your scooter uses will be a big concern. It should then go without saying that electric scooters are far more environmentally friendly than gas. What’s more, some countries are starting to phase out gas vehicles in favor for electric quickly, so it may be worth getting one now to stay ahead of the curve and avoid increasing fuel tariffs.

Summary

While there are many differences between gas and electric scooters, the best way to choose the one that’s right for you is to simply list out what you want and what you want your scooter to do, and then figuring out with one is best suited to those needs, and of course, your budget.
