Government employees from Civil Secretariat employees from Kashmir refused to attend their duties fearing mob attacks even though government had made vehicles at their disposal on Monday.Civil Secretariat Employees Union President Ghulam Rasool told news agency CNS that they have decided not to attend their duties till the activities of goons are curbed. He alleged that miscreants target Kashmiris wherever they get opportunities.“I have asked Kashmiri employees to take care of their families first and only then join duties. We don’t trust police as they have been given a free hand to miscreants. Curfew had been imposed in Jammu city to hoodwink Kashmiris. Miscreants were allowed to carry out processions despite curfew,” he said and accused Jammu Police Chief of being soft on miscreants.Ghulam Rasool also trashed police claim of taking action against over 100 miscreants. “The claims made by police are fake. No action has been initiated against miscreants. They are free and are being encouraged,” he said. The Civil Secretariat Employees Union president alleged that Kashmiri Pandits hurled even a petrol bomb at Toop Sher Khan area on Government quarters to intimidate and harass people of Kashmir. “They also took to streets and raised slogans against us,” he said.

Meanwhile, different social and religious organizations have established community kitchens for Kashmiri people stranded in Jammu due to violence that erupted after the deadly attack on CRPF in Kashmir killing at least 49 troopers.Fearing mob attacks, thousands of people from Kashmir including women and children have taken refuge in different mosques of Jammu though majority of the people are staying at Makah Masjid Bhatandi where ‘Falah-e-Insaniyat Committee’ has established a major community kitchen.“We have set of a Langar for our brothers from Kashmir. We are trying to ensure they feel safe here,” said a member of the Committee to news agency CNS. He said they also managed to evacuate over 500 Kashmiris from different locations of Jammu and made arrangements for their safe return to Kashmir. He added that the situation overall remained peaceful on Monday. “We have asked those people from Kashmir who fear attacks to visit Bhatandi. It is safe here,” he added. (CNS)
