1,246 students of Anganwadi centers, government schools given free treatment in Barnala : DC Barnala

Under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), around 1,246 students of Anganwadi Centers and government schools of Barnala district have been provided free treatment since April 2018 till January 31. While disclosing this information, Deputy Commissioner Barnala Mr. Tej Partap Singh Phoolka said that RBSK has been aimed at providing free treatment for 30 diseases, including birth defects such as developmental delay, congenital heart diseases and disability or other deficiencies, to children aged between 0 and 18 years. He added that special teams of health department have screened as many as 69,584 students of various Anganwadi Centers and around 57,124 government and government aided schools.Deputy Commissioner said that district administration has been committed to provide better health facilities to the citizens. He added that Punjab Government has also initiated ‘Tandrust Punjab’ mission to improve health standards of its residents and also to develop healthy, hygienic and pollution free atmosphere for the residents of the state. Mr. Phoolka said that health department has also a major role to play to give the best of life to common people and in this regard, directions have already been issued to officials of health department at Barnala.Meanwhile, Civil Surgeon Barnala Dr. Jugal Kishore said that 34 students identified suffering from congenital heart diseases out of which 15 children have been operated free of cost at various hospitals.Dr. Jugal Kishore added that the children identified with other cognitive diseases have been referred to various medical colleges and hospitals in Patiala, Faridkot, Barnala, Dhanaula, Tapa and Mehal Kalan for free treatment. He added that health department has also been administering tablets of Iron-Folic acid in Anganwadi Centers and Government and aided schools. He said that RBSK teams were also making the students aware of hygiene, balanced diet and vector borne diseases.
