"The city of Dinanagar would undergo transformation at a very vast level with Rs. 100 crore assistance and there would be no dearth of funds for carrying out infrastructure related development in the city." This was disclosed here today by the Local Government, Tourism & Cultural Affairs, Museum and Archives Minister, Punjab, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu on the occasion of laying the foundation stone of sewerage treatment plant (To come up at Rs. 35.53 crore) near civil hospital Dinanagar and other developmental works pertaining to 100 percent sewerage and water supply in village Daburji and Dinanagar. On the occasion Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary, Senior Congress leader Mr. Ashok Chaudhary, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Vipul Ujjwal and Mr. Abhinav Chaudhary were also present.After laying the foundation stone of the development works, Mr. Sidhu visited the house of Shaheed Maninder Singh who was martyred in the Pulwama terror attack in Jammu & Kashmir and shared the grief of the family. Mr. Sidhu assured the father of the martyr, Mr. Satpal and brother Mr. Lakhwinder Singh that the Punjab Government shares fully the pain of the family and full respect would be accorded to the family. He further said that he bows his head in reverence to the martyr. Mr. Sidhu also added that the perpetrators of the dastardly act deserve the harshest punishment. He also said that terrorists have no religion and these must be wiped out from their roots.
Addressing a gathering during a function after that Mr. Sidhu said that the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh led government is fulfilling all the promises made to the people and priority is being accorded to the overall development of the cities as well as the towns. He divulged that the Punjab Government is undertaking every possible effort to provide clean drinking water and sewerage facility to the people living in cities and towns. He also said that the huge development centric works would change the face of Dinanagar with each and every amenity being provided to the people. Mr. Sidhu further elaborated that Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary dedicatedly works round the clock for the development of the constituency and the development oriented works begun today are the result of the hard work of Mrs. Chaudhary. He further assured that there would be no dearth of funds for ensuring the rapid progress of Dinanagar. The minister also disclosed that the previous regimes had put a halt to the development projects pertaining to the cities and towns and under the AMRUT and Smart Schemes commenced in 2015, no work of the developmental nature was undertaken. But now under the leadership of the Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, 16 cities are witnessing economic boom as per the AMRUT scheme. He also reiterated that the State Government is fully committed to providing every amenity to the people. In her address on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Mrs. Aruna Chaudhary while thanking Mr. Sidhu on reaching Dinanagar said that the development works related to sewerage and the water supply would provide a big relief to the people. Mrs. Chaudhary also appealed to Mr. Sidhu regarding the better maintenance of the historical and religiously important places of Dinanagar given their significance. Mrs. Chaudhary also made a strong case for constructing flyovers over the 6 'Phataks' (Crossings) which lie inside the city.
Touching the aspect of the development of Dinanagar, Mrs. Chaudhary said that Captain Amarinder Singh led government has done developmental works aimed at the welfare of all sections of the society. The minister further divulged that the state government has waived off loans running into several thousand crores of the farmers having landholdings between two and a half and 5 acres besides also writing off the loans of the SC/BC community to the tune of Rs. 50000 as per the promise made to them. The minister further added that in another historic decision, the state government has once again reinstated the reservation in promotion of the Government sector SC employees and officers for which she is thankful to the Chief Minister, Captain Amarinder Singh. Mrs. Chaudhary while listing the achievements of the Social Security Department said that no eligible beneficiary would be deprived of the benefits entailed under the various welfare schemes of the Punjab Government and also stated that under the old age pension, widow pension benefits are being extended to the beneficiaries by identifying them at the village level. The various benefits are also being given to the Divyang and the Dependent children.
Coming to the Transport Department, the minister said that from the time of her assuming the charge of the department, 333 new buses and 31 AC buses have been added to the fleet. Every bus has GPS installed which would provide info regarding departure as well as arrival of the bus. The 14 bus stands across the state are being given facelift and various features such as timetable for the convenience of the commuters and the LED screens would also be added soon. The minister further added that making Dinanagar a top notch place in terms of development is her priority. Mrs. Chaudhary disclosed that the promise of Dinanagar being made a sub division has been fulfilled. A flyover is coming up on the railway crossing at Behrampur Road for which a sum of Rs. 30 crore has been released. A cemented road at a cost of Rs. 56 crore has been constructed from Mirthal to Dinanagar which is the first of its kind link road of the State which has provided huge relief to the people in terms of commuting from one place to another. The minister reiterated that there would be no dearth of funds for carrying out works of the developmental nature as the all round prosperity of the constituency occupies top spot in her scheme of things.
