Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today asked the company executing the work on PAP flyover to adhere to deadline and complete the construction work before March 31.Both the officers, who inspected the ongoing work, at the PAP chowk flyover today evening expressed complete satisfaction over the ongoing work. They said that completing the work by March 31, this year, was top priority of the district administration and no laxity would be tolerated in this regard. They said that the supply of mud for the construction purpose has already been initiated from villages Narangpur and Chaulang villages to ensure that work was completed within the stipulated time span.Both the officers said that that work on construction of flyover at PAP Chowk would be completed by March 31 whereas work of construction of flyover at Rama Mandi Chowk along with entire structure work and Highway layers would be completed by June, this year. They also assured fulsome support and cooperation to the company for the smooth execution of the project, which was very crucial for the city. They asked the company officers to ensure that the project was conducted in a time bound manner without any sort of inconvenience to the general public.Both the officers were apprised that after the flyover at PAP chowk was constructed, the traffic bottleneck created at PAP chowk would be over. They were informed that around 70-80% of traffic currently at PAP chowk would use the flyover to go to Amritsar or Jammu whereas the remaining traffic would go inside the city. This would give a major relief to people who were facing lot of problem due to heavy flow of traffic. Pertinently, the work on construction of 3.20 kilometres long PAP -Rama Mandi Flyover has been hanging in fire from last around ten years. The project was very significant for the commuters travelling from Delhi to Amritsar, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala, Pathankot and Jammu via Jalandhar to and fro.On the occasion Assistant Commissioner of Police Mr. Jang Bahadur Sharma and others were also present.
