The joint team of Jalandhar Counter Intelligence Wing and Hoshiarpur Police have arrested infamous gangster Jaspreet Singh (30) alias ChannaHoshiarpuria and recovered two illegal pistols along with 33 live cartridges besides 755-gms narcotic powder from his possession.In a press release, AIG Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that Counter Intelligence wing was already keeping a close vigil on the activities of gangsters and other criminals active in Punjab through his field staff and sources.He said today, the wing received tip-off that gangster Jaspreet Singh was formally known as “ChannaHoshiarpuria”, who is wanted in several cases was moving to his home in Gokul Nagar in Hoshiarpur in a silver A-Star car and carrying illegal weapons with him if the search is conducted in the area, the accused could be arrested.Mr Khakh said that acting swiftly on this input, he shared the information with SSP Hoshiarpur Mr J.Elanchezhian and a joint team of Counter Intelligence wing and Police Station Model Town Hoshiarpur was constituted to arrest the accused.AIG further told that the joint team set up a temporary checking post at Bharat Nagar T-Point near Bhangibridge and cops signalled a silver A-Star car number (PB-10-DA-0273), which was being driven by Channa but he tried to flee from the spot and apprehended by cops following a brief chase.
Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said that during frisking Police recovered narcotics and illegal weapons (one .32 bore pistol, one .315 bore revolver with 33 live cartridges, 755-gm from his possession and took him into the custody immediately. "During preliminary interrogation of the arrested gangster Channa revealed that he was involved in more than 18 cases during last 10 years of his criminal history", AIG Mr Khakh explained and said that Channa is one of the notorious criminal involved in more than eight cases of murder and attempt to murder. He further added that Channa was a close associate of deceased gangster Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, who had killed PappuGujjar father of gangster of BinnyGujjar."There is an old rivalry between Channa and BinnyGujjar Gang and Last year, Channa along with his associates also fired gunshots on the house of Gangster BinnyGujjar", AIG added.He further told Channa had procured these illegal weapons from UP based weapon smugglers on the directions of one of his foreign-based friend, who was in touch with these UP based Smugglers using Whatsapp messenger.He said that a case under sections 22/61/85 NDPS Act, 25/54/59 Arms Act has been registered against accused in Police station Model Town and he would be taken on the remand for further interrogations.
