In a major reprieve to the needy and underprivileged people visiting the local civil hospital for treatment, the Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today launched free meal service for them at the Sanjhi Rasoi.On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that it was a red letter day for the district as this service would help a number of needy people to have nutritious meal. They said that the district Red Cross along with Guru Ramdass Langar Sewa Society would render this service free of cost during which three meals a day would be provided free to the people. Both the officers said that this service would begin at 7am in the morning and people would be served tea/ biscuits/ rusks/ buns or porridge.Likewise, the Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police said that in the afternoon Rice/ chapatti along with vegetable/ pulses would be served to people and in the evening chappati or rice would be served with vegetables.They said that the service would be available free of cost to the people during entire week. Both the officers said that this service has been initiated in consonance with the commitment of the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh to ensure nutritional food to one and all.The Deputy Commissioner and Commissioner of Police further said not only the patients, but anyone could eat the meal at free of cost in this Rasoi. They also informed that the nutrient-rich food would be provided to the visitors daily without any sort of hurdle. They said that administration has signed up an MOU with NGO under this imitative and lauded the efforts of Mr Satnam Singh for this cause who was rendering the same service in Hoshiarpur, Mukerian and Dasuya civil hospitals.On the occasion Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr Jasbir Singh and others were also present.
