Advisor to Governor, K Vijay Kumar today chaired the 69th Board of Directors meeting of State Forest Corporation (SFC), here today.The BoD meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Finance  Naveen K Choudhary, Principal Secretary Planning Rohit Kansal, Commissioner Secretary Forests M K Dwivedi, PCCF J&K Suresh Chugh, Managing Director JKSFC Vasu Yadav and other concerned  officers.Detailed discussions were held and suggestions were also given by the members. Issues related to the payment of GST on Extraction and Transportation contracts after the new tax regime was  discussed and directions were given in this regard to the corporation to settle the issue.With regard to fire cases, it was directed that officers of the Forest Department should be provided proper training in  investigating the fire incidents. For this, experts should also be involved in training of team of officers from the department.Stress was also laid to follow the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) that enlists  the steps that have to be taken while investigate such fire incidents. All such incidents should invariably be handled as per the laid down SOP, the meeting decided. Advisor Kumar, who is also the Chairman  of the JKSFC said that there should be a committee of senior officers of the department whose job is to visit the spot where fire took place and to furnish a detailed report about the occurrence of the incident  He further asked for adopting modern techniques in carrying out extraction of timber so as to make the organization more profitable and fully independent. IT enables services must be adopted for bringing  efficiency in working of the corporation the meeting observed.
