An intensive awareness cum sanitation drive as part of Sunday Shramdhaan Activity was conducted at Housing Colony Chanapora on Sunday. The programme was organised by Field Outreach Bureau (FOB) Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in coordination with Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).Farooq Ahmad, Ward Officer, Ward No 31 presided over the cleanliness drive along with other officials of SMC and FOB.Large number of people from the local community participated in the programme. During the drive, number of activities including collection of garbage, cleaning of roads and interiors of neighbourhoods and distribution of dustbins among local opinion leaders were conducted.The masses were also informed about the objectives of Swachh Bharat Mission and a pledge to maintain cleanliness was also taken.Sunday Shramdhaan is a nationwide initiative to maintain and practice cleanliness and similar activities were also carried out in other cities throughout India simultaneously.(VMS)
