Former minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia today said Punjabi Ekta Party (PEP) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were ‘B’ teams of the Congress party and this was why AAP legislators who had resigned from the primary membership of the party were not being disqualified as members of the Vidhan Sahba.Addressing a press conference here after a meeting of councillors, ex Zila Parishad and Block Samiti members at the residence of municipal council president Zorawar Singh, Mr Bikram Majithia said PEP, AAP as well as all other so called Taksali elements financed by the Congress were being propped up as part of a strategy to divide the opposition. “This is why the Congress party is even violating the constitution by not disqualifying the AAP legislators despite the tenth schedule making it clear that any legislator who resigns from the primary membership of his parent party would be deemed to be disqualified as member of the legislative assembly” Questioning the silence of the Assemby Speaker on this vital issue he said the Congress government should specify if it would pay back money given to the three AAP members in the form of salaries and perks, including car and staff, after their resignation from their parent party. Mr Majithia said the Congress did not take any action because PEP and AAP had become part of the mahagathbandhan being planned by it against the SAD-BJP combine in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. “This is why it has teamed up with PEP, AAP and other rejected forces to confuse the people.

It was as part of this deal with the Congress that AAP legislators Sukhpal Khaira and Baldev Singh resigned from their party. They were assured that their membership of the State assembly would not be revoked. This is why no action has been taken either against Khaira and Baldev till now”, he added. The Akali leader said Punjabis however could see through the Congress game plan and teach the party as well as its mahagathbandhan partners a befitting lesson. Mr Majithia said PEP leader Sukhpal Khaira should tell why his family was still in the Congress even as he had formed a so called front to take on the party. “Khaira’s heart beats for the Congress as he has defended the Gandhi family’s attack on the Darbar Sahib for 20 years and even contested four elections on the Congress ticket   He was instrumental in getting his brother in law Ranjit Singh a cushy post retirement assignment besides assignments for other relatives. He is destined to return back to the Congress as per his deal with the party”.Mr Majtihia also announced that SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal would interact with party workers at Ajnala on January 21. He urged all sections of society to unite to take on the Congress government. “No one section has been spared by the Congress he said adding the government had failed to implement the Rs 90,000 crore complete farm loan waiver. The youth have not got the promised jobs and the dalits are being discriminated against. The Congress party has lost the confidence of the people and now the time has come to teach it a lesson in the parliamentary elections”, he added.Others present on the occasion included S. Veer Singh Lopoke District President, Jodh Singh Samra, Halqa Incharge, Lalli Ranike, SGPC member,Amrik Singh Vishowa ,SGPC member, Zoravar Singh, President Nagar Council Ajnala, Bhupinder Iqbal Singh, YAD President Ajnala, Gurnam Singh Saidoke, Chairman Sugar Mill and Master Preet Singh.
