DC Kargil inaugurates training programme for Sarbpanchs

Deputy Commissioner and CEO, LAHDC, Kargil Vikas Kundal inaugurated 8 day training programme for the newly elected Sarpanchs here at Conference Hall Baroo. Assistant Commissioner Development Imteeaz Kacho, District Panchayat Officer Shabir Hussain, besides other concerned officers were present on the occasion.The training is being imparted in 2 phases, wherein 98 newly elected Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members from different blocks of the district are participating.Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner, while highlighting the role of the elected Sarpanchs as the ambassadors of democracy at the grassroots, urged upon them to take full benefit of the training programme.The DC also asked the Sarpanchs to work in close coordination with the officers, and field functionaries so as to ensure that people at the grassroots level are benefited from the Government schemes.

During the training programme the newly elected Sarpanchs shall be enlightened about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), people’s participation in development, good governance and leadership skills, District Planning Committee and Integrated District Plan Central and State flagship programmes, Panchayat Office Management, Provisions of J&K State Panchayati Raj Act and Rules and Duties and Responsibilities of Elected Representatives and PR Officials. Other aspects of the training schedule include the Role of Ward Majlis and Halqa Majlis, Halqa Panchayat Budget, Accounts and Auditing, Financial Resources of Panchayat Halqa, E-Governance and Panchayat Enterprise Suite, Social Accountability and Social Audit and PRI-CBO Convergence.A batch of 49 newly elected Sarpanchs of Drass, Bhimbhat, Kargil, Sodh, Pashkum, Lotchum, Shargole and Zanskar blocks shall be imparted training during the 1st phase w.e.f; 15th January to 18th January 2019.Moreover, in the 2nd phase training for another batch of 49 newly elected Sarpanchs in respect of Shakar, TSG, Sankoo, Barsoo, Tai Suru, Karsha and Lungnak blocks is scheduled is to be held from 19th to 22nd January 2019.
