The Markfed staff educational and welfare society today organized a one of its kind cultural programme titled ‘DHIYAN DI LOHRI’ at its premises in Sector-35 here today. The programme was presided over by the Chairman of Markfed Mr. Amarjit Singh Samra.Disclosing this, an official spokesman said that on the occasion those employees of Markfed were also honoured who had become proud fathers of daughters during the past 1 year. The spokesman further said that during the course of the programme the Markfed employees performed Giddha and Bhangra on ‘Dhola’ which totally mesmerized the audience. Besides this, noted singer Bhupinder Babbal and Satinder Satti also held the audience spellbound with their soulful rendition of songs. The students of Guru Gobind Singh Girls College, Chandigarh enacted a play titled ‘Gulbano’ written by Veena Verma on the occasion. The play highlighted the plight of women in the society. 

It is also worth mentioning that the play has won Silver Medal in the Inter Zonal Youth Festival.In his address on the occasion, the Chairman of Markfed Mr. Amarjit Singh Samra said that held at the directions of the Cooperation Minister, S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa such positive as well as the progressive programmes are an indication of the changing mindset of the society towards women who are carving out a niche in every field in today’s era.The Registrar, Cooperative Societies, Punjab, Mr. Vikas Garg who graced the evening as the Chief Guest , said that such programmes afford a chance to the Markfed employees to showcase their talent and are indicative of their lively spirit.On the occasion, the MD Markfed who was the Special Guest, thanked all those present and appreciated the efforts of the employees.The highpoint of today’s programme was performance of bhangra by all the dignitaries including Mr. Amarjit Singh Samra, Mr. Vikas Garg and Mr. Varun Roojam.Among others present on the eve included the Additional Managing Directors Markfed Mr. Rahul Gupta and Mr. Bal Mukand Sharma.
