Union Minister of Human Resource Development, Government of India, Prakash Javadekar visited Lovely Professional University, today, at the valedictory session of two-day Women Science Congress held as part of the five-day 106th Indian Science Congress at the campus. Minister Javadekar bade farewell to ‘8th Women Science Congress of ISC’ on high-notes by inspiring all women participants, delegates and students to gather again at the next ‘ISC Meet’ with more positive and notable findings. Upholding women as true embodiments of consistency, compassion, courage and conviction, Mr Minister inspired women to keep on excelling in science and technology areas also. Taking example of two-time Nobel Prize Winner- Marie Curie, for her pioneering research in discovering Radium & Polonium in two different scientific areas of Physics and Chemistry, he motivated women scientists by affirming that they are nowhere in minority.Taking examples of Korea, Taiwan, Singapore and China, which were unknown in the research sector a few decades back, Minister Javadekar stressed that the country which progresses in science & technology, excels all other nations. Here, he upheld Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Jai Anusandhan” by confirming that a nation’s progress is incomplete without research works. Like churning of the sea, continuous researches take time and efforts but these bore out more sweet fruits. Here, he talked about governments’ various liberal schemes of funding meant to attract research oriented best minds in the country. He also laid importance on unified working of Academia, Industry & Research sectors for outstanding progress of India.

He also talked about joint research programmes & scientific co-operation among top universities across world, where Indian Universities should also be a great part.Minister Javadekar also informed about Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA) programme of the government, which provides financial assistance for creation of educational infrastructure and R&D in premier educational Institutions of the country. He quoted this to inform all that through positive schemes India is regularly achieving “Brain- Gain” in place of losing to brain-drain. Talking about innovating, Smart India, he invoked institution heads to open innovation councils and clubs at their respective campus for students to learn, research, and grow. Concluding his address with lamenting that all great science and technology oriented things are creations by Indians scientists and engineers without any ownership, he invoked all: “Instead of mere creators and participants, we ought to be owners of innovations. Then and then only our country can make illustrious progress.” HRD Minister also launched and had a ride in the LPU engineering students’ creation ‘Driverless Multi-Seated Solar Bus’. For this stellar innovation he congratulated and lauded the efforts of students and university. Minister Javadekar also praised study environment and quoted it as a “really lovely” university in name and works. Worth informing, tomorrow, i.e. 7th January 2019, is the concluding day of the Indian Science Congress-2019.

Also present on the main dais were General President ISC Dr Manoj Kumar Chakrabarti, General Secretary (Scientific Activities) Prof. P P Mathur, LPU Chancellor Ashok Mittal, General Secretary (Membership Affairs) Prof. Gangadhar, and Dr Namita Gupta, Scientist D, KIRAN Division, Department of Science and Technology.
