Insisting upon ensuring food articles mandated under National Food Security Act in “Right Quantity, Right Quality and Right Time”, Mr DP Reddy, Chairman Punjab State Food Commission, sensitized the Additional Deputy Commissioners who have been designated as District Grievance Removal Officers (DGROs) under the NFSA Act 2013, regarding the provisions of the Act, in a meeting held at Punjab Bhawan, Chandigarh.Terming the DGROs as the “Food Soldiers”, Mr. Reddy said that Food Security Act is landmark legislation which they are expected to implement in letter and spirit so that the needy and the downtrodden get their due entitlement. Activating the Grievance Redressal Mechanism, he asked the DGROs to actively pursue and decide the complaints launched under the act. The Chairman also asked them to undertake surprise checks to access the ground realities. He vociferously reiterated the timely resolution of complaints and added that Commission would hold monthly Video Conferences with the Secretaries of the concerned departments and the DGROs in order to track the status of complaints.
He informed that a Dedicated Grievances Redressal Portal for Food Commission is being developed with technical support from Department of Governance Reforms and would be launched soon with a couple of feature enrichments that are being incorporated after feedback from the concerned departments.Earlier, detailed presentations regarding the existing distribution mechanism and grievances redressal were made by, Food Civil Supplies & Consumers Affairs, Social Security, Women and Child Development and Education Departments.Besides all the Additional Deputy Commissioners across the State, Ms. Jaswinder Kumar, Ms. Kiranpreet Kaur , Mr. GS Grewal ,Capt.
