Deputy Commissioner Jalandhar Varinder Kumar Sharma and Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar today said that the district administration would ensure foolproof arrangements for upcoming Nagar Kirtan on January 7 to mark the Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji.
Presiding over a meeting to review the arrangements for Nagar Kirtan here today at District Administrative Complex, the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner said that the nagar kirtan would start from Gurdwara Chavni Nihanga Sodal and conclude at Gurudwara Guru Nanak Mission after passing from Gurdwara Preet Nagar, Doaba Chowk, Adda Hoshiarpur, Mai Heeran Gate, Patel Chowk, Bhagwan Valmiki Chowk and Dr BR Ambedkar Chowk. Both the officers said that the administration was duty-bound for making elaborate arrangements so that people could participate in the Nagar Kirtan with full religious gaiety and enthusiasm. They said that the district administration would leave no stone unturned for making this event a huge success.
Dwelling on another point, the Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner said that requisite arrangements would be made for traffic diversion, parking of vehicles, security arrangements and other facilities during the Nagar Kirtan, so that pilgrims do not face any sort of problem. Both the officers asked every concerned department to make sure that their staff performs the duty diligently for smooth conduct of affairs during the Nagar Kirtan. They said that every officer/ official must ensure that people participating in this Nagar Kirtan do not face any sort of problem.The Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner directed the Municipal Corporation Jalandhar to ensure proper cleanliness of the route of the Nagar Kirtan, sprinkle water on roads and ensure temporary urinals for the pilgrims participating in this mega event. Likewise, they asked the Health department to depute Medical teams during the Nagar Kirtan along with medicines and Ambulances to facilitate the people. Both the officers also asked the PSPCL to evolve a mechanism for supplying uninterrupted power during the Nagar Kirtan.On the occasion District Congress President Mr. Daljeet Singh Ahluwalia, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mr. Jasbir Singh, Sub Divisional Magistrate Mr. Sanjiv Sharma, Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Gurmit Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. PS Bhandall, Assistant Commissioner Police Mr. Jang Bahadur Sharma, Assistant Commissioners Mr. Himanshu Jain and Dr. Jai Inder Singh, District Mandi Officer Mr. Varinder Khera and others were also present.
