Special efforts were being done under the 'Padho Punjab Padhao Punjab' project in all the primary schools to uplift the education level and to impart quality education in government schools in Barnala district. Adding to these initiatives, sets of books for the libraries of 50 government elementary schools of district Barnala were given by Deputy Commissioner Barnala Dharm Pal Gupta here on Thursday. These books have been provided by the Green Earth Foundation Association along with the assistance of Padho Punjab team.On this occasion, appreciation letters sent by Secretary, School Education to some government teachers were also distributed by the DC. These teachers include Sukhpal Singh Maur, Harjinder Singh Karampura, Ramandeep Singh Bajwa Patti, Karamjit Singh Baba Ala, Maginderjit Singh Nainiwala and Navjot Singh Harijan Basti.Mr. Dharam Pal Gupta said that efforts were on to uplift the standard of education in the district and some NGOs have also started contributing for this purpose.
He said that the Green Earth Foundation has taken three initiatives, to plant trees, help libraries, and help in the education of special needs children; which all are commendable. He also mentioned that as many as 60 smart schools have also been developed by the district administration with the help of teachers and other organisations. He added that the education department officials and teachers were regularly contributing for these noble causes and soon all the primary schools will be developed as smart schools.On this occasion, District Education Officer (Primary) Maninder Kaur, Deputy DEO Shivpal Goyal, Padho Punjab coordinator Kuldeep Singh, Assistant Director Youth Services Department Vijay Bhaskar, President of Green Earth Foundation Narinder Kumar, General Secretary Sunil Kumar Saigi, Pargat Singh, Mohinder Pal, Usha Rani, Surya and Harinder Singh were also present.
