Six-Member delegation from Curtin University Australia visited Lovely Professional University (LPU), where Australian delegates met LPU International leadership and interacted with senior faculty members. Delegation was comprising Dean International South Asia Prof Abhijit Mukherjee; Dean International (Faculty of Science and Engineering) Prof Brett Kirk; Head of the School of Civil and Mechanical Engineering Prof Anthony (Tony) Denis Lucey; Head of WASM (Mines, Energy and Chemical Engineering) Prof Vishnu Pareek; Acting T&L Director (Office of the PVC, Science and Engineering) Dr Christopher Rawson; and, Regional Manager (India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan) Sheryl Ishita Das. One of the top-ranked universities world-wide, Curtin University is an innovative, global university known for its high-impact research, strong industry partnerships and commitment to prepare students for jobs of the future.During special session with Heads of different engineering, science, technology schools and research & development wing at LPU, delegates had deliberations on set up of innovative labs, joint research, establishing joint programmes and sharing opportunity for students of both the universities. Great researcher and educator Prof Mukherjee shared his research on sustainable engineering practices. Prof Tony Lucey talked about his main research area of fundamental ‘Fluid-structure Interaction’ and its application. 

He informed what happens when the motions of a fluid and a structure are coupled, and this happens all the time, when leaves flutter in the wind, wings of a plane vibrate and more. Prof Kirk shared about Curtin University’s vision for growth in higher degree research students, joint publication with international authors and mechanisms for strong interaction among academic scholars. Dr Rawson advocated innovative teaching practices by regularly adapting new teaching methods within the classroom, online and in assessment and feedback. Present on the occasion were LPU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Ramesh Kanwar, R & D Dean Dr Geetha and other LPU scientists and academicians.While welcoming the delegation, LPU Director at Division of International Affairs, Mr Aman Mittal informed: “Curtin University and LPU are already working in partnership in many areas since long.  Under credit transfer programme between the two universities, LPU students can get their final degree from the Curtin University after completing last two years’ education there in Australia.” Highlighting, one of LPU students, Komalpreet of ECE is soon going to join Curtin University under credit transfer programme. Similarly, a Colonel with Indian Army Mr PP Singh, who is pursuing regular  MBA programme at LPU being on study leave, is also to join last semester at Curtin University.
