Due to the negative attitude of Punjab Government more than 5000 seats in B.Ed Colleges are lying vacant in Punjab.  While many folds of students are running pillar to post to get the admission in B.Ed this Year only as the duration of the course has been changed from 2 Years to 4 Years by the Govt from the next session. The bench of Hon'ble Mr. Justice Mahesh Grover and Hon'ble Mr. Justice Lalit Batra has instructed the State Govt that every Year due to the no policy to fill the vacant seats in B.Ed Colleges same problem arises resulting into the wastage of time of Court also. Court has given the ultimatum to the State Govt to come up with the policy on 9th Jan, 2019 to fill out the vacant seats in B.Ed Colleges for the students who haven't appeared in the Entrance Exam.On the other side Himachal Pradesh and many other States have allowed the graduate students to pursue B.Ed Course even if not appeared in the entrance exam. But in Punjab due to the slow process the Govt couldn't make any policy to fill out the vacant B.Ed seats. On the other hand Higher Education Dept, Punjab Govt has directed all the 3 Universities i.e Panjab University, Punjabi University and GNDU to fill the vacant seats in their affiliated Physical Education Colleges on their own but the B.Ed Colleges are still waiting for the Court and Govt. decision.
