Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Prakash Javadekar on Monday attacked the Congress for carrying out a "campaign full of lies" on the Rafale fighter jets purchase and demanded an apology from its president Rahul Gandhi. The senior BJP leader told reporters at the BJP's state headquarters here that Congress leaders were making wild allegations on the issue, hoping that people would start believing the lies if these were repeated again and again. However, the Supreme Court verdict on the Rafale deal had exposed them and put their best plans and conspiracies to rest, the minister further said. The minister said that the Rafale deal was inked in 2012 when UPA II was in power, but did not ahead with the purchase as the Congress could not find a middleman. The Congress was neck deep in graft and the NDA government at the Centre, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not even have a spec of taint and hence the opposition party was relying on a false propaganda, the minister added. He said the party's losses in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh were "local." Nevertheless, the BJP had increased its vote share in these assembly elections, he noted.
