Hundreds of aspirants appearing in separate examinations by Indira Gandhi National Open University, Jammu protested against the authorities for changing their centres.Shouting slogans, the students this afternoon assembled outside IGNOU Complex demanding establishment of centres at their respective hometowns. The students said that there are four degree colleges in the Udhamour district but the students appearing the examinations have been told to appear the centres established at Mahore in Reasi, Leh, Jammu and other remote areas of different districts. The students further added that not even a single holiday has been given them for preparation adding that they approached the concerned authorities with a request of setting up examination centres in their respective hometowns but only verbal assurance was given, which also later withdrawn.“A written order was passed directing students to appear in the examinations being conducted in the centres allotted to them, which have been established by the IGNOU,” they alleged. The students appealed to the Governor Satya Pal Malik headed state administration to intervene and issue directions to the authorities so that they do not suffer and do not have to travel to remote parts for appearing in the examinations when degree colleges and schools are already available in all the districts. They also slammed the dictatorship of the authorities.
