Under the recently inaugurated Pakeezah Project in Patiala, a two day training programme on Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) was conducted for the selected teachers & girl students of Govt. Schools, Aganwadi workers, ASHA and ANMs of Patiala Rural and Urban areas from 05.12.2018 to 06.12.2018 in the Government College for Girls, Govt. Bikram College of Commerce and Govt. State College of Education. A total number of 813 teachers, girl students, Aganwadi workers, ASHA and ANM have participated in the training. The training was conducted by the team of Experts, Master Trainers trained on Menstural Hygiene Management. It included Doctors, Social Workers, Child Protection Officers, and District Child Protection Officers etc.The trainers discussed and explained the process of Menstruation, puberty, usage of absorbent materials and myths as well as taboos associated with Menstruation. 

The trainees responded well and enthusiastically shared their experiences. The trainers used various IEC tools, such as audio-visual methods, interactive charts and games while delivering these sessions. The training material in the form of booklets, posters, pamphlets etc. has also been developed for women to easily comprehend and associate themselves to the awareness program.Pakeezah Project was inaugurated by Smt. Preneet Kaur, Former Minister of State for External Affairs on 17th November. Under the program, cost-effective premium quality sanitary pads will be distributed among girls and women of Patiala, sanitary pads vending machines would be installed in schools and 1100 Menstrual Healthcare awareness sessions would be conducted in the schools and villages of the district starting from next week.This would go a long way in improving the health condition of girl students & young women of the district.
